Misty’s passion is evidenced in her thirst for education in a variety of disorders that complement her ability in planning and monitoring successful ABA programs for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).  Misty has 20 years of experience and strives to provide support and services for the community, helping to assist and educate children and families. Her goal is to support and help individuals to reach their maximum potential.

 

Misty attended the University of Central Florida (UCF) where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology in 2001 and her Master’s degree in Exceptional Student Education in 2003. Following her graduation from UCF, she obtained her Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) certificate in 2003 and then her Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification in 2006. While working in the educational and behavioral fields, she also returned to UCF to receive her Autism Endorsement Certificate in 2007.

 

Misty holds a Pre-K-3rd Florida Teaching Certificate, a K-12 Exceptional Student Education Certificate, and is certified as an Infant Toddler Developmental Specialist (ITDS). She has also worked as a teacher for 6 years in self-contained programs designed for children with ASD, including Pervasive Developmental Disorders Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS) and Down’s Syndrome.  Misty has expertise in Verbal Behavior, Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS), toilet training, social skill development, eating disorders, Pica, self-injurious behaviors, feeding disorders, aggressive behaviors, and teaching self-regulation.

 

In the public school setting, Misty taught Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten. She also provided services as a Department Chair for the St. Lucie County School District. Misty has worked in Lake County and St. Lucie County Schools, as well as the Martin County Girls Youth Facility, as a Behavior Analyst.

 

Misty currently is a licensed Speech Language Pathology Assistant.

 

Misty was the co-founder of Positive Behavior Shaping, LLC dba Applied Behavior Innovations, (2013).
